Welcome to this month’s FREETOGO blog post.
This month I’ll spotlight several videos and one fun message.
1) As we continue into spring, an uplifting quote comes to mind. “Spring – when we are reminded just how wonderful change can be.” Of course, one of the beautiful springtime changes is when flowers bloom.
With that in mind, I’ll bring your attention to a video in the Gardens category.
Speaking of beautiful changes, Butchart Gardens stands out in this regard.
From Wikipedia –
“Robert Butchart (1856–1943) began manufacturing Portland cement in 1888 near his birthplace of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. Then, he and his wife Jennie Butchart (1866–1950) came to the west coast of Canada because of the rich limestone deposits necessary for cement production. Robert immediately opened a quarry which allowed him to become one of the largest cement producers in the Northwest.
In 1909, when the limestone quarry was exhausted, Jennie set about turning it into the Sunken Garden, which was completed in 1921.” After many years of improvements, it has become a magnificent tourist destination called Butchart Gardens.
