When our two children were only seven and five years old, my wife, Renee, and I began a seventeen-plus-year-long roller coaster regarding our life-long dream, to travel extensively.

​​​

First, in early 2002, things suddenly changed pretty dramatically for us. Myself, being only 42 at the time, and quite out-of-the-blue, had a life-threatening brain injury that left me fully disabled. I was in a coma for three days. When I came out of my coma, I discovered that I had lost all functionality. I then spent seven more days in the hospital ICU and ten weeks in the rehab hospital next door working on recovering.

Although I ended up being permanently disabled, I am very fortunate that I survived.

So, it’ll come as no surprise,

for years after that Renee and I decided our dream of traveling both far and wide to be over.

​​​

Yet, after many more years, we became excited about being able to travel to at least some degree. We figured that when Renee was retired, we'd be able to travel for relatively short distances and time frames.

However, in March of 2018, Renee was diagnosed with two types of cancer,

one which was very rare and very aggressive.

You can imagine, this changed everything. We immediately stopped thinking of anything other than finding a way for Renee to beat her two cancers. 

​​​

Right from the start, Renee got outstanding medical care. As well, she received an amazing outpouring of love, prayers, and support from her wonderful family, her entire work community,

and all her incredible friends.

​​

As months went by, she responded positively to treatment and things began looking up for her. So, we began to once again entertain the idea of traveling.

​​

However, in early 2019, things took a turn for the worse for Renee.

Then, in June of 2019, she decided to enter hospice.

​​

Nonetheless, Renee was single-minded in her belief and stalwart in her efforts to survive her bouts with cancer. Yet, in surviving cancer, she knew that she, too, would be disabled. So, realistically, our plans to                                             travel and see all of the beautiful places in this world were once again shattered.

Not wanting to just accept our fate, I recalled a germ of an idea I had a couple years ago. With all of the tremendous amounts of incredible technology available to us, why can't we just travel virtually? So, in the little spare time that I had while taking care of Renee,

I proceeded to do quite a bit of research and thinking on the idea. 

​​​

I thought through all that was necessary to travel virtually; how to view things, what smart devices were necessary, how to connect over the Internet, and what content was available.

I then decided to put this all into a website, even if only for our personal use.

​​

Unfortunately, shortly after that, in October of 2019, Renee passed away.

​

​

Knowing that pretty-much everyone

has all of the necessary technology available to them to be able to travel virtually, I decided that this website could be a valuable resource to a great many other people besides myself.

This is especially the case for anyone unable to travel, both the disabled and the able-bodied.

There are just so many great things about traveling virtually!​
