Welcome to this month’s FREETOGO blog post.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Like last year, I found it only fitting to focus the selections of videos this month on the St. Patrick’s Day holiday and Ireland.
1) The first set of videos (nine in total) for this blog post can be found in the Current Holiday & Season Showcase category, then in the Archive of Holiday and Season Showcase category in other months. All of these videos are related to St. Patrick’s Day.
The first video in this set is about the history of St. Patrick. The remaining videos show how St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in various parts of the world.
2) The second video can be found in the Natural Wonders category. This video highlights a little-known yet, spectacular site in Northern Ireland.
Scientists say it was caused by volcanic eruptions...local legend says it was built by the Irish giant Finn MacCool who wanted to build a pathway to Scotland so he could fight a Scottish giant. (UNESCO World Heritage site.)
3) The last video can be found in the Geography – Europe category. Give yourself a special St. Patrick’s Day treat by getting a fabulous peek into one of Ireland’s magnificent cities.
Dublin – where history and heritage thrive and good cheer abound. Despite a long and sometimes tragic history of invasion and resistance, this thriving business capital has poetry, music, and literature percolating through its cobblestones.
