Welcome to this month’s FREETOGO blog post.
This month’s blog post is especially notable.
Based on ample input, I have updated just a few things on the website.
I have updated the website's tagline and re-arranged the geography categories on the Travel Now page. Additionally, I have curated and added more videos.
I. Changing the tagline.
Even though people seem to understand the idea of Virtual Travel somewhat, they have not fully embraced the concept.
Two things on this issue:
1) Some say that true Virtual Travel should include the use of more than just two senses, seeing and hearing. (This is perplexing because it was not an issue during the introduction of another major technological and social change when people embraced the use of telephones.)
Although I will say with virtual travel, people can introduce two additional senses, smell and taste, by at least adding their own food that is relevant to their chosen video.
2) There is also a bit of confusion given the introduction of virtual reality websites and headsets. (I did not expect this to be an issue because I felt my target audience, technology Luddites, wouldn’t really be aware of the virtual reality movement.)
Consequently, I have come up with a half-step to solve the problem. I have changed the tagline of FREETOGO to “Experience the Freedom of Sightseeing In Place.”
II. Re-arrangement of the geography categories on the Travel Now page.
To make the geography-based videos more easily accessible, I have organized the videos based on their continent versus being a city or not.
I encourage you to check out the new organization on the Travel Now page.
=======================================
As usual, I invite you to check out the videos I have curated and organized for this website.
Also, be sure to see all of the many ways people are using FREETOGO in the Scenarios category at the bottom of the ‘Travel Now’ page. (Do you recognize anyone in a scenario? Or do one of these scenarios motivate you to use FREETOGO more?)
Most importantly, to help improve the quality of life of everyone, please share this website far and wide, ESPECIALLY with anyone unable to travel freely. Sign up as a member, leave a testimonial, and visit the website regularly!
Get creative and have some fun traveling virtually. I still look forward to the day when the term Virtual Travel will be as commonplace as the term travel. For now, Sightseeing in Place will do.
Thank you.
